Matija Volontar
Staatl. gepr. Berg- und Skiführer / IVBV
I was brought up in a small village in the heart of Julian Alps, a few kilometers away from Triglav – highest mountain in Slovenia. My whole life I had mountains and climbing on my doorstep, so becoming a mountain guide was a natural step for me. In summer I mostly guide more or less technical rock routes or ridges all over the Alps. In winter, I do ski touring across the Alps and some steep skiing and ice climbing in Julian Alps.
Technical climbing routes in the higher mountains as well as climbing warm rock in the lower parts of the mountain range. In winter, ski touring takes the better part of my time guiding.

Eiger – Mittelegi Integral. Possibly one of the best high-altitude ridges in the Alps.
To stay true to yourself.
